I have a new hardware agent which I received last week and it's failed to remain running for more than about 10 minutes. I plugged it in and created an agent on the website, successfully communicating with it and setting it up. Then it remained in a state similar to the one described in the thread, "New hardware agent not communicating" where it just showed the link "…continue installation". After about a day that link disappeared and the hardware was active for just a short time. It looks like it was up for about 10 minutes of heartbeats, then went inactive again.
I rebooted it repeatedly, tried different USB cables and power supplies, held down the reset button on the side of the hardware to reboot, and it always comes back for a few minutes, then disconnects according to my outagesio control panel. The leftmost light on the front of the unit (wires out the back) reaches a solid color after flashing during boot-up. But the hardware will just not stay active. I see the IP on the router serving DHCP and can ping it even when the HW shows inactive on outagesio.
Is this just a faulty unit?
