does a hardware agent ship with a power supply? or does the customer need to purchase one separately?

Hardware agent install
I am having difficulty activating my new hardware agent. I don't receive email when activating the agent. One problem might be the switch next to the reset button shown in the attached. What is this switch? Which way should it be set? How do I know if the agent is communicating with your network? The indicator lights are as shown on the attached HardwareAgent_129676-2.jpg with the left-most light steady on.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support regarding possible pop up warning: only add it to "off" function. In general, however, I see your point re frustrating users.
regarding activation process: I encountered a bit of confusion caused by myself, so my experience is of no help to you. In the midst of the activation process I unintentionally hit the physical off switch on the side of the power strip. I hadn't noticed that this switch was there. I would be glad to work with you to test it further. Can I deactivate the power strip and then reactivate it?
Your agents and power strips are awesome and are priced such that I was not hesitant to give them a try.
My remote location is in Southampton, New York, where Optimum is the only cable company. My experience has been that from time to time my connection to the internet becomes unstable. I don't know why this happens, but the remedy is usually to reboot the cable modem and/or the router. I couldn't do this remotely until I discovered OutagesIO.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support I received today my new smart power strip and installed it on my local WiFi network where it is controlled by a software agent working at the community level. I successfully used it to power cycle my router. Ultimately I will install it at a remote facility where I have a hardware agent working at the extended level. I will want to be able to power cycle the cable modem and/or the router.
It occurs to me that if I remotely make a mistake and turn the power off to my modem or router, I will have to drive 100 miles to turn them back on. You might consider configuring your action button that turns an outlet off to be a 2-step procedure that asks the user if they really want to continue with the option chosen. Just a thought.

reconnect SW agent
My dashboard shows that my software agent is disconnected. This probably due to restarting my computer. How do I reconnect?

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support success purchasing as guest! In the process I was told that my email address had been used previously, so part of your record keeping remembered me. This may have been when I tried to create a new account - I didn't keep a screen shot of this - sorry.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support Add to cart button is now present for ordering 6-outlet power strip. On checkout it asks for username and password for returning customer. I purchased a hardware agent back in Sept, so I am a returning customer. My username and password for logging into support does not work at checkout. I don't seem to have recorded a different username/password at the time of my Sept purchase.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support I tried to purchase a 6-outlet power strip; but, unlike the web page for the 2-outlet plug, there was no "add to cart" button on the page resulting from "buy now" button on the 6-outlet power strip page. I was unable to find a workaround to enable the purchase.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support Will the 6 outlet plug work with a software agent? For purposes of testing I would like to purchase a 6 outlet plug and run it at a location where I only have a software agent. When I have confidence that I know that I understand the 6 outlet plug and its controls, then I will transport it to my remote location where I have a hardware agent.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support By "time lapse" I was referring to the time between turning off the power and turning it back on at a location on your power strip. You, apparently, agree that 30 seconds might be a more useful value than 5 seconds. I understand why 5 seconds would be appropriate for testing. An option to let the user specify this value might be even better, though I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks again for your attention to this matter.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support 5 seconds doesn't sound long enough to reset my cable modem. Generally one waits ~30 seconds to reset a device. Could you add an option to choose a time lapse in the power recycle function? This function is critical for me to maintain a remote facility. thanks for your consideration.

RE: Smart Outlets
@OutagesIO_Support
fantastic! Please let me know when the power cycle function is added to the controls. I will then immediately purchase a smart outlet. I need it ASAP.
