OutagesIO installation error

Glad to hear you're making some progress.
I don't want to cause you any more confusion but let me share something.
Earlier this year, we put out a version of the agent which would not run on any Windows version unless people installed VC_redist.14.23.27820.0.x64.zip
Microsoft had made some changes where we were not yet able to include everything needed in the installation package.
Once they installed this, things seemed to work. According to the Windows developer, this file was/is no longer needed with the current version of the agent for Windows.
However, I just wonder if for some reason, this is what you need.

Well, I'll give it a try, but I don't have high hopes. That version of the Visual C++ Redistributable (14.23.27820.0.x64) is the one that is supposed to support Visual C++ 2015, 2017, and 2019. I had it installed, but it was one of those I removed to get past the first error. I probably had some others installed too, so that might make a difference. But I had seemed to be past the Visual C++ problem and into a different .NET problem.

The above was from 8 hours ago before Firefox began giving me trouble. I did try uninstalling the file that I had and installed yours. As I expected, it made no difference. I got the same error. Googling the error code turned up a few suggested fixes. I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

I'm sorry to read that you are still experiencing problems. I hope we'll have someone on staff to handle MS related questions in the future.
-
Do I understand correctly that you are saying that no one will be able to consider my problem until some time in the indefinite future when your company might hire someone with the necessary knowledge? If so, that's really amazing for a company with a product that supposedly runs on Windows. If not, then please explain what you do mean.

We have a developer that works on the agent when needed. We do not have this person on as full time staff.
Other than some code we'd like to remove to optimize the agent, it works perfectly and having someone full time for this would not be cost efficient.
Your case is rare considering how often the agent is installed on Windows on a daily basis. The problems are usually never the agent itself but something on the PC being installed on. For example, if you have another PC, you could try installing on that one and chances are good that it will work just fine.
It's impossible to know all of the combinations of software out there and in this situation, it does not seem to be the installer itself. I will reach out to the dev but it will take some time to get a reply because he is now busy on a very large project.

Of course, I have a lot of non-Microsoft things too.
The first three on the list seemed interesting. I uninstalled them, but it made no difference.

I suppose I could uninstall some of the .NET updates. Perhaps your part-time developer might have some thoughts.
I can't help but point out, since you said that no one else has had this problem installing your product on Windows, that I have 394 (actually somewhat more, because I'm not counting things that don't require installation) non-Microsoft products installed on my machine (yes, that is definitely a lot) and none of them have had anything like this sort of problem.
-
I'm not sure what to tell you, it happens.
We see problems now and then but if we saw them all the time, that's when the developer gets involved again.
Try installing on another device, maybe you have another PC or a Linux device. Or consider ordering one of our hardware devices which are purpose built to run the agent and nothing else. Then you don't even have to keep your PC on, the agent will always be on the job.
I'm sorry I cannot help much more at this time.
-
Hi sorry to hear that.
Did you try the file I shared with the previous person having a problem?
There are so many combinations of packages and versions installed on a Windows machine that it's hard to know for sure since we don't have a Windows developer on hand.
There was a problem some time back that required the additional Windows package installed. That might fix the problem. If not, can you share a little more info in a new post and we'll see if we can find some leads.
-
The update to fix the Windows installer problem has been released. Simply create a new software agent which will give the download to the new version.
