I've tried to install a new Linux Agent,

      After adding the /etc/agentid file

I've run the script but it does not complete:

      $ sudo bash starter_linux_cp.sh
Make sure to create /etc/agentid with credentials before starting this script
Make sure you have set the 'start' path where this file is
You could add this to /etc/rc.local to start it or build a service for it. Please search Google for more.

Any idea why I get such an error?

        Hi,

Let see if we can get some starting points here.

I tried using both sudo and without and each worked, the agent started running.

First thing to check is the credentials file.

Is it possible you created the /etc/agentid file but without the credentials in it?

Are the credentials each on one line? No empty lines at the top or bottom.

        If not the credentials…

Is it possible you don't have full permissions to run the curl app on that server?

Did you try it as root?

The agent uses https, is it possible your server is not allowing httpd connections, maybe missing CA certificates or something along those lines?

Let's start with these and go from there based on your input.

        Regards,

          Thanks for that suggestion!

          I checked /etc/agentid

It had a blank first line.

Still got the same issue. But then noticed that this agent disappeared in the Dash. So I created a new one and added it's settings.

Works a treat now! Thanks for your help 😄

Great news, thanks for letting us know.

Correct, rather than let unsuccessful agent installs pile up, they are automatically removed in 24hrs is not completed.

Feel free to ask anything you need right here, we'll always try to help. The documentation is not always current because we made huge changed from end of last year until about a couple of months ago and still working on those things in the background.

It's more efficient to answer questions here.
