Software Agents Status Disconnected - How to reconnect?
-
I started using outagesio last month to try and figure out why my internet is so flaky. The first agent installed with no problems and worked for about two weeks but when I had to restart my computer the agent status was showing "disconnected" I looked for ways to restart it but didn't find any and "reboot" says it is not available. The "newer version released" icon was red so I clicked it and got a popup saying that if I click OK that the update must be completed. I clicked OK but nothing happened.
At that point I decided to create another software agent. This agent worked for a week and, again, when rebooting the computer it now also shows status "disconnected". After doing much searching on the forum on "statuses", "disconnected", etc. I haven't found info on how to fix this. How do you reconnect a software agent? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Can you share the agent ID's so we can look and then respond.
-
The first agent is 127266 and still shows as disconnected. The second is 127372. I finally found and figured out how to uninstall the previous versions and the update button worked for agent 127372 and downloaded the update. I installed it and now 127372 is active and working normally. Agent 127266 still shows as disconnected but the agents are identical so that's not a big issue. If I could delete 127266 that would be easiest but I don't see a way to do that.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I should have said they are on the same computer. When the first was disconnected and I couldn't figure out how to reconnect I created a second identical one so I could keep monitoring my internet. The first one 127266 is now surplus to requirements.
I just tried your suggestion and deleted the redundant agent. Thanks for that!

One last thing…
You were mentioning at the beginning of this topic that after you restarted your PC the agent became inactive and then disconnected.
Did you try to restart the PC just to see if this keeps happening ?
Just in case this happens again would you please check if among the services (within windows control panel) the one named Echo Networks... has been started and it is set to start automatically.
-
Just did a restart and the agent is now "inactive".
On services Echo Networks is status active and start up type automatic.
Also tried the "Restart OTM " in the Echo Network Service in hidden icons and still shows inactive.

The agent remained inactive last night and was showing disconnected this morning.
I checked in windows services and Echo Network Service(ENS) is running and automatic. Just for grins I restarted ENS and refreshed the control panel web page and the agent is running again. Not sure why restarting a running program would help but it seems it did.
Thanks for your help Kavitama!

Hi,
It is always possible there is a bug. Microsoft is constantly updating things.
We have two options if this happens again.
1: We can send you a special logging version where once you see the problem, you could send us the log. (preferred)
2: We can have a Windows developer remotely access your PC to do a little testing and hopefully find the problem.
Please let us know if this is still happening and we'll send you a logging version where you can send us the log when this happens again.
Thank you for taking the time to report anything you feel could be wrong so we can have an opportunity to fix it.
