Hardware agent connected behind a firewall
-
Hi,
I just received the yellow hardware agent. When I looked back at the activation email, I just found out that there is a NOTICE that this hardware should not be installed directly to the internet. The real purpose I bought this hardware is to monitor my ISP directly without having to go through our MSP's firewall.
Are there any workarounds on this? Can I put a simple router that would act as DHCP in between my ISP and our firewall, and connect the hardware agent there?
Thanks,
Mark -
Hi there,
This post seems to have been missed.
The choice is really up to you. There isn't anything to hack on the agents but as usual, when you put something directly on the Internet, it becomes a target for hackers.
Yes, absolutely, you could install another little router outside the MSP's device then connect your agent to that so long as the upstream is providing DHCP.
Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm sorry this was missed and happy to help in any way we can.
