        Hi,

What flavor and version of Linux are you working with.

Did you see this as well?

        Linux install
It's pretty straight forward so that ever is not working, I'm sure we can help figure it out.

Let me know the steps you're doing to the point where you are trying to get it to run.

        Regards,

I'll need more information to help.
As much as you can provide, what you have edited in the script, screen shots, something I can help with.

All of the information is in the link I sent you. I just tested and it works fine so it's likely something small, a step you're missing.

                  Hi again.

I was looking at your account and see that you've tried something like a dozen times using different operating systems.

This really is a simple install so maybe there is something unusual about the system/s or the approach you are taking. It could be as small as one little step.

Rather than seeing you struggle, we'd love to help you. We normally reserve phone support for enterprise customers but would be happy to get on a call with you, or a screen share, what ever it takes to help you.

If the video and article is not helping, perhaps you could take a screen capture of the process you are doing and we can advise.

                  Regards,

                    Greetings.
Having tried various flavors of operating system I have decided before taking up your offer to revert back to a windows 10 but a cut down version.
Yesterday a further problem appeared using the linux based system, the remote software that I use will not wake up the machine, this is not a problem with windows PC''s
Thanks for your kind offer of assistance I will keep you informed of progress.

                    Regards

                      Hi Alan,

No problem, we're here when you need us.

When you create a new agent, there is a page of help and links in some cases. Check those out if you have not.

Yes, a device that goes to sleep will certainly stop the agent from running.

                      Windows

                      Updated
It's always better to make sure a system is fully updated as we often have to update when MS makes changes.

                      Install with admin rights
If you are not logged in with full administrator rights or if you do not run the agent install using (right click package) 'run as administrator', the installation could fail. One of the errors shown will be 'failed to elevate' if not enough access is the cause.
This is because the installer needs to add a rule into your Windows firewall. If that fails, the agent will not run correctly. A rule could be added manually. Please ask in our forums.

                      Uninstall previous version first
We recommend downloading, extracting and saving the agent to a known location on your PC so that you can restart the installer if it ended due to uninstalling a previous version.

Windows defender / Virus scanner / Security software
Win defender may try to prevent the service from running. You can temporarily disable the “Real Time Protection” in the “Windows Security” settings and re-enable that later. You should disable any virus scanner/security software that could prevent the installer from creating a firewall rule. This rule is required so that the agent can communicate with the OutagesIO network to generate your reports.

                      Linux

                      Permissions
The user that will run the agent must have permission to run it. That user must have network access and executable at minimum. Using root to run it is fine on most systems.

Make sure the binary has been chmod to executable. This is noted in the video and articles.

                      Regards,

OK. So let's close this thread.
I have reverted to windows everything is working and data is being processed.
I will attempt the Linux on again but will purchase another mini pc at some point.
Would be nice if there was an installer for Linux as there is for windows, so there must be a reason that this has not been done, I do not know or understand.
Thanks to all who have offered assistance and provided comment, I need to familiarise myself with the Linux system before trying again.
Anyway now on windows 10 pro, windows 10S did not work to many restrictions and hoops to jump through.

                        Thanks All
